Tap & Hop - abrokyire aba Ghana
If you are using the Tap & Hop card, you don’t always need cash for your transport fares.
The main idea is that you load money onto your Tap & Hop card and use it to pay when you enter a trotro or taxi that has our devices. So instead of looking for coins or small notes every day, you just tap your card.
However, not every trotro or taxi in Ghana has the Tap & Hop device yet. So there are times you may still need cash, especially if you enter a vehicle that doesn’t accept Tap & Hop or if you are in a hurry and can’t wait for one that does.
The idea is that over time, as more vehicles join the system, you will rely less on cash for transport. For now, it is a mix depending on the vehicle you find.
So yes, you can still carry some cash, but Tap & Hop gives you a way to avoid cash stress whenever the option is available.
