Is Your Money Safe on the Tap & Hop Card?

When you load money onto your Tap & Hop card, it's important to understand that this is not the same as handing over cash to someone for safekeeping.

 

The money is KEPT in your Tap & Hop account linked to your card. So even if you lose the physical card, your money is not gone. You can report it immediately through the app or by contacting us on 0535125004. We will block the card to prevent unauthorised use, and we will transfer your balance to a new card.

 

Also, every time you tap on and tap off in a trotro or taxi, only the actual fare for that trip is deducted from your balance. There are no additional or unexpected charges. All transactions are based on the rides you take.

 

You can also check your balance on the Tap & Hop app so you always know how much money is available on your card.

 

The Tap & Hop system is designed to ensure that your money is not sitting with a driver or trotro mate. It is managed through our system and only used when you actually take a trip.
